The short version: Skriveo operates no server and collects no personal data. There is no analytics, no telemetry and no advertising code. Everything stays on your device, except the text you deliberately send to the AI provider you chose, using your own API key.
Skriveo (“the Extension”) is a browser extension that helps you summarize, rewrite, translate and reply to text you select on a web page. This policy explains exactly what data the Extension handles, and what this website handles.
1. Who we are
The Extension is published by Hamza Naeem, Germany. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described below, write to privacy@skriveo.com. Full contact details are in the Impressum.
For the purposes of the GDPR, we are the controller only for the limited data described under “This website”. We are not a controller or processor of the text you send to an AI provider — that relationship is directly between you and the provider whose key you supplied.
2. What we collect
We do not operate any server, and we do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal data. The Extension contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
All data the Extension handles stays on your own device, with one exception described under “Third-party AI providers” below.
3. Data stored on your device
The Extension stores the following using the browser's own extension storage:

You can erase all of this at any time by clearing history in the panel, or by removing the Extension from your browser.
4. Third-party AI providers
The Extension does not include any AI service of its own. It sends requests directly from your browser to the provider you select and for which you supply an API key:
- Groq — groq.com/privacy-policy
- Google Gemini (Google AI Studio) — policies.google.com/privacy
When you run an action, the following is sent to that provider and to no one else:
- The text you selected on the page (or the text you typed into the panel),
- The instruction for the action you chose (for example “summarize” or “fix grammar”), and
- Your API key, as an authorization header.
Your use of those providers is governed by their terms and privacy policies, and by the account you created with them. We have no access to your requests, your key, or your provider account.
We recommend not selecting text that contains passwords, financial account numbers, health records, or other sensitive personal information. Note also that AI providers may process your requests outside the EU/EEA under their own terms — review those terms before sending regulated or confidential material.
5. Permissions and why they are needed

The Extension does not run a content script on the pages you browse and does not read page content in the background. It only accesses the current tab at the moment you invoke an action.
6. This website
This website is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and has no tracking pixels or advertising code. Your theme preference is kept in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted.
The site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts, which means your IP address and browser user-agent are visible to Google when the font files are requested. This is the only third-party request the site makes. If you prefer to avoid it, a content blocker will prevent the request and the site will fall back to your system font with no loss of function.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent) for security and operational purposes, on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use those logs to build profiles or identify visitors.
7. Legal basis (GDPR)
- Art. 6(1)(b) — performance of a contract: processing strictly necessary to deliver the Extension's functionality you requested, and to validate a licence key you purchased.
- Art. 6(1)(f) — legitimate interests: keeping this website secure and available.
Because the Extension holds no personal data on any system we control, there is no profiling, no automated decision-making, and no international transfer performed by us.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because we hold no data about you, there is generally nothing for us to export or delete. To remove everything the Extension has stored, uninstall it from your browser. To delete data held by an AI provider, contact that provider directly. If you have purchased a licence, our payment processor holds your transaction record — see the Terms of Service.
9. Children
The Extension is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly handle data from children under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and publish the new version at the same URL before the change takes effect. Material changes will also be noted in the extension's release notes.
